Training and Technical Assistance

The goal of the National Treatment Court Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program is to assist adult treatment courts and veterans treatment courts with the development and implementation of program practices to improve program effectiveness and long-term participant success. In order to accomplish this goal, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) treatment court grantees, as well as the treatment court field at large, have access to a wide range of TTA services, many of which are FREE. These services include:

Treatment Court Institute
Formerly known as the National Drug Court Institute, the Treatment Court Institute leads training, technical assistance, and research dissemination for more than 4,000 treatment court programs in the United States. The Institute offers an array of free resources to educate public health and public safety professionals on evidence-based best practices for working with justice-involved individuals with substance use and mental health disorders.

Tribal Healing to Wellness Court (THWC) Site-Specific TTA
BJA provides TTA specific to the needs of THWCs that includes onsite and offsite technical assistance, regional and national trainings, a publication series, and a webinar series.

Veterans Treatment Court Training
Through All Rise, BJA provides support for trainings for those working in veterans treatment courts.

National Online Training System for Treatment Court Practitioners
This website offers access to training on a wide array of subjects, including the psychopharmacology of addiction, sanctions and incentives, trauma-informed care, and methamphetamine addiction. Courses include video lessons by experts in the field, virtual site visits of drug treatment courts around the country, interviews with practitioners, and a resource library of documents and reference tools.
