The City of Portland Police Bureau is the Western Region Training Center (Western RTC) for the Gang Resistance and Education Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Program. They will continue to provide G.R.E.A.T. training, technical assistance, promotion of G.R.E.A.T. programs, and G.R.E.A.T. program related research. Western RTC provides G.R.E.AT. program management and oversight to the 10 states in the Western Region. The Western RTC assists agencies in organizing and administrating G.R.E.A.T. training on gang and youth violence prevention, suppression, and intervention. Western RTC assists law enforcement agencies in both starting and sustaining the G.R.E.A.T. Program and its four components. Project staff will also inspect and assist in the selection of training sites for the G.R.E.A.T. Officer Training and G.R.E.A.T. Family Training.
