Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $425,000)

The Institute of Intergovernmental Research (IIR) will improve justice information sharing through training that results in increased understanding of provisions of 28 CFR Part 23 and its applicability to promoting privacy and civil liberties protections and improved security and accountability in managing criminal intelligence data by law enforcement. They will utilize an infrastructure dedicated to various training and technical assistance efforts to manage curriculum enhancement, coordinate technical assistance and training delivery, and continue to support the 28 CFR Part 23 online training. IIR will coordinate program activities with existing criminal justice partners to deliver on-site training, support 28 CFR Part 23 online training via a restricted-access website, and organize specialized technical assistance service delivery.
