Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $740,895)

The goal of this project is to improve the supervision strategies for emerging adult (EA) probationers in Dallas County, TX using the SCF principles to reduce recidivism and facilitate desistance by being responsive to participants' specific age-related criminogenic needs. The applicant proposes the Emerging Adult Caseload Collaboration (EACC), a specialized probation caseload to address the high rate of 17 to 25-year-old individuals who are revoked while under community supervision. The proposed program is designed to incentivize positive behaviors by addressing key EA developmental issues during supervision, target criminogenic needs of the EA population to reduce recidivism, and use swift and certain responses to manage the EA population.
