Description

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) helps America’s state, local, and tribal jurisdictions reduce and prevent crime, lower recidivism, and promote a fair and safe criminal justice system. BJA provides a wide range of resources through programs and services, including training and technical assistance, to address chronic and emerging criminal justice challenges nationwide.

Following are a sampling of available BJA resources that are specifically related to the prevention of and responses to violent crime.

In recent years, many cities, towns, and counties across the country have experienced substantial increases in community gun violence. While some localities have made progress in reducing violence, pressing concerns remain for residents, community and business leaders, law enforcement officials, public health providers, and others.

In response to these concerns, the Department of Justice launched the Violent Crime Reduction Roadmap as a one-stop-shop to assist local jurisdictions in developing, implementing, and evaluating the right set of strategies to prevent, intervene in, and respond to acts of community gun violence.
