To continue to efficiently and effectively provide a quality result to its citizens, the NCSCL requests funding to perform the following: The Raleigh Drug Chemistry section is seeking funds to replace outdated equipment. This includes one (1) GC-MS instrument for the Western Regional laboratory and three (3) new Infrared Detector Spectrometers (IRDs). This discipline is also requesting funding to send toxicologists to conferences and related training that offers continuing education about drugs including opiates encountered in the field of Forensic Toxicology. The Raleigh Digital Evidence discipline is seeking funds to procure necessary Forensic workstations, also called forensic towers. The DNA Database Section is requesting funds to procure two (2) epMotion liquid handlers. The liquid handler is an automated way to process DNA Database samples with less manual human intervention, which results in more efficient DNA sample processing. The Trace Evidence Section is requesting funds to procure three (3) stereomicroscopes that are 24 years old and starting to breakdown.
