Proposal Abstract

Applicant’s Name:  City of Fort Valley

Project Title:  City of Fort Valley Police Department Community Policing Initiative 

Goals of the Project: 

Combat rising violent crime issues.
Create a stronger relationship between community and police.
Increase opportunities for training.

Primary Activities and Strategies:  The City wants to increase community engagement-focused patrols in high crime areas and partner with the community members and apartment management in those areas. The City wants to fund opportunities for training and training conferences for individual officers.

Service Areas:

1. The Vineville neighborhood, consisting of Walden Street, Hinton Street, and Cliett Street

2.Lakeview Apartments: 1105 Edwards Street, Fort Valley GA 31030 

3. Indian Oaks Apartments: 1103 East Church Street, Fort Valley GA

Expected Outcomes:

This project hopes to lower the number of violent crime incidents in the areas mentioned while increasing cooperation and understanding between the police and the community. This project will also help to increase officer education in the area of violent crimes.

Major Deliverables:                                                                                                 

Overtime pay for community engagement patrols.
Money for conference and training attendance and travel

Affirmation:

I affirm that Fort Valley Georgia Qualifies as a rural community. The population of the city is 8,962 as of the 2019 United States Census. This does not exceed the 15,000-limit set by the Solicitation.
