Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $400,000)

The Tribal Judicial Instittue at the University of North Dakota Law School plans to provide technical assistance and training to those Tribes funded under the 2021 Tribal Justice System Infrastructure Program to assist them in programmatic asssessment, structural integrity assessment, operational costs assessment and other technical assistance needed in order to ensure success in their TJSIP grants. TJI has an architect partner, DSGW Associates, who has a history of working with Indian tribes and will be providing design planning assistance to thoses Tribes in need of such assistance. TJI haws worked with Tribes under this program for three years now and works well with the other TA provider, Nisqually Associates, int the delivery of coordinated TA. Each Tribe funded will receive either an on-site visit or virtual visit with key staekholders to ensure programmatic success and TJI will work with its archietect to assess the existing structure to ensure remnovations are feasbile . TJI will continue to work wtih the Tribes after the intiital programmatic assessment to provide any other technical assistance needed.
