The Urban Peace Institute’s mission is to develop and implement policy and systems solutions to reduce violence, achieve safety and improve community health.

With a mission to reduce violence, the Connie Rice Institute for Urban Peace, known as the Urban Peace Institute (UPI), works on the ground in Los Angeles communities to create safe, healthy, and thriving neighborhoods.

UPI in partnership with community organization, Chapter T.W.O, our organizations are dedicated to the safety of our community members. As both organizations' programming has expanded, we’ve each adapted to accommodate the needs of the unique neighborhoods we serve. In South Los Angeles, UPI and Chapter T.W.O provide extensive programming such as leadership training and safety and violence reduction initiatives. These programs have the overarching goal to create safe neighborhoods and uplift and support intervention workers, community leaders, and other community organizations.
