Nashua Police Department Interpretation and Translation Services

The Nashua Police Department would like to provide interpretation and translation services to community members.  This is currently is not attainable due to the limited amount of internal and external resources. We would achieve this by contracting through an outside vendor who would provide interpretation and translation 24/7.  The practical application of this service would be via phone as well as video conference in both the field and a formal setting.  Our intent is to have video conferencing in the front lobby for initial reporting/inquiries, out with patrol officers, within the detective bureau to conduct investigations (obtain statements), during the booking process as well as with our two dedicated domestic violence victim witness advocates. Having an outside contractor would allow us to provide these services during proactive community policing efforts as well.  If the Nashua Police Department were to rely solely on its current language service assets we would not be able to continue to provide the high level of services we strive for and this would negatively impact the community members we serve. If the Nashua Police Department received this award, we currently have the required computer hardware to implement this program.
