COLORADO RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT
The Colorado RSAT project will target treatment for offenders identified by the Standardized Offender Assessment levels as 4c or 4d. RSAT funds will be utilized to provide enhancement funds for the specific purpose of funding treatment for offenders already in the system. The overall intent of the project builds on both statutory and policy initiatives that are in place. Colorado has been a national leader in prison-based therapeutic communities and community corrections-based therapeutic communities for many years. Colorado is also at the forefront of development and implementation of evidence-based programming for offenders in prison and in the community.
Eligible applicants for Colorado’s RSAT program are State agencies serving adult and/or juvenile populations and local jails and local correctional facilities including community corrections facilities. Up to 10% of the funding will be granted to local jurisdictions, if possible.
Secifically, CO's goals are:
1. Address substance abuse and develop behavioral, social, and vocational skills for inmates.
2. Provide appropriate intensive residential treatment for adult offenders based on results of an assessment.
3. Facilitate the development of a greater continuum of relapse prevention and aftercare services for offenders within the identified target population.
