John R. Justice Reimbursement for Student Loan

Project Abstract
Applicant’s Name: Office of Prosecution Services.
Project Title: Alabama John R. Justice Loan Repayment Program.
Goal: The Alabama John R. Justice Initiative goal is to help retain eligible full time prosecutors
and public defenders who are burdened with very large amounts of educational debt with little or
no means to repay.

The Office of Prosecution Services has adopted the program model in which applicants
will apply directly to the designated state administering agency which will decide based on the
programmatic criteria set forth herein as well as the applicants ability to pay and any additional
recommendations regarding which applicants should receive funding and in what amounts.
The Office of Prosecution Services intends to use a general application created by the
agency for potential applicants of the John R. Justice Initiative in Alabama. The application will
include information regarding cursory eligibility requirements, disclosures and assurances of
employment status and qualifying loan information. The anticipated date for the availability of
the applications for potential applicants would be within 60 days after a formal award is made to
our agency. These prospective applications will be submitted, within a specified time to OPS
and carefully reviewed to ensure that all sections of the application are complete and any and all
requested attachments have been included.
