Kotlik has increasing crime. Incidents are more frequent and more severe. The project will strengthen our court to be able to handle juvenile alcohol and drug cases in a way that will combine judicial supervision, substance abuse treatment, case management, drug testing, and graduated incentives and sanctions to help young people with substance use disorders achieve sustained recovery and avoid reoffending. Kotlik is located on both banks of the Kotlik River, 450 miles from Anchorage, in the Yukon- Kuskokwim Delta. The population of Kotlik is 577 with approximately 306 under the age of 18 (53%). Our population is young and growing – 16% are under 5. The community is 97% Alaska Native.
