ULR is requesting funds to operate ULR’s Reentry Education and Employment Outcomes Program in the City of Rochester, New York. Participants who are returning to the City of Rochester after release will be recruited from the correctional facilities operated by the Monroe County Jail Bureau. The city has an overall poverty rate of 30.4%, a labor participation rate of 62% with our target area having a weighted poverty rate of 31%, which is significantly higher than the national average of 12%. We will focus on serving the traditionally marginalized population within high poverty and high crime rate zip codes.
ULR will provide holistic, trauma informed person-centered programming to justice involved individuals to help them attain career and educational opportunities leading them to life long careers and equitable employment opportunities. Services include case management, occupational training in environmental construction/Abatement, food service, IT, high school equivalency preparation, work experience placements, critical skills obtainment, mentoring, and supportive services. All participants will receive at least 12 months of comprehensive follow-up services to help them sustain and grow their accomplishments.
