Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $792,701)

Federal funding will support the Summit County Court of Common Pleas and its Adult Probation Department in Akron, Ohio in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an expansion to their existing successful Swift, Certain, and Fair probation program the Summit County Offender Recidivism Reduction (SCORR) . The original target population of the SCORR Program included probationers classified as high risk. The new phase will expand the risk levels served and the number of probationers served and improve/expand service through the addition of innovative housing, a dedicated caseworker, a new educational forum, and financial support to remove barriers. The intervention is expected to decrease participants’ existing low recidivism rates to approximately 10% while reducing jail time and improving outcomes.
