Safe and Sound Schools will continue and complete the work begun by the National Policing Institute (formerly the Police Foundation) to develop a specialized threat assessment electronic toolkit (e-toolkit) and a training curriculum to provide support to school-based BTAMs. In doing so, the Safe and Sound Schools team, in collaboration with the National Center for Policing Innovation (formerly the Virginia Center for Policing Innovation) and a Research to Practice Incubator (R2P Incubator), will develop the toolkit and training curriculum to support school-based BTAMs as they evaluate risk, interview, and intervene with students on the autism spectrum who represent a threat of violence to themselves or others, while accounting for—and respecting—their differences.
