Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $3,127,544)
The project will award funding to subrecipents to implement activities that will support gun violence reduction priorities in the State of Oregon by working directly with the people who are most likely to engage in gun violence or be victims of gun violence. The SCIP Advisory-Board approved a shift in its priorities and focus to emphasize youth firearm violence intervention rather than prevention. We recognize that youth firearm violence interventions represent a critical and proactive approach that supports youth at various stages, including those who are already at risk or involved in violent behavior. This approach complements BJA's priority to address both the immediate needs of at-risk youth while also working to reduce long-term violence through targeted, evidence-based interventions. We will ensure that all proposed activities are aligned with evidence-based intervention strategies.
