Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $5,116,765)
The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) will use the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) funds to support, serve, and advocate for the Indiana veteran community, which consists of service members, veterans, families, caregivers, service and resource providers, and local government. The IDVA intends to use the funds to focus on initiating new or enhancing existing community programs that combat suicide, gun violence, and violent deaths.
The IDVA will subgrant funds to direct local ($1,677,678.00) and <$10,000 jurisdictions ($1,358,443.50), a lethal means training and education outreach program ($225,850.00), a lethal means safe storage program ($1,000,000.00), and a research partner for data collection and analysis ($279,150.00).
For discretionary expenditures, the IDVA will use the OJP indirect calculation guidance, bringing indirect costs to $63,967.50. Direct expenditures will be $511,676.00. Both direct and indirect costs will total $575,643.50.
The overall budget total is $5,116,765.00.
