Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $1,000,000)

The Economic and Workforce Development Department proposes to implement the Returning Citizens Housing Stability Pilot Project. The purpose is to provide housing stability to 30 formerly incarcerated adults through rental subsidies and transitional employment in the Congressional Districts 34, 40, and 43. Project activities, which are provided by subrecipients Amity Foundation, Community for the Responsible Community Development, and the Arming Minorities Against Addiction & Disease, include securing lease agreements for 30 housing units, providing housing navigation support services, and 240 hours of work experience for 30 formerly incarcerated adults. Expected outcomes include: housing placements and 240 hours transitional employment for 30 formerly incarcerated individuals, who are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
