Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $300,000)

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office proposes to implement the Comprehensive Officer Assistance Program (COAP).  The purpose of COAP is to offer services, education, training and resources to members of law enforcement to improve their wellness.  Project activities include the establishment of an Officer Wellness Library, the expansion of resiliency training, continuation of retirement transition training and the continuation of substance use disorder training.  Expected outcomes include but are not limited to:

At least two retirement training sessions with a maximum of 20 participants.
At least four resiliency trainings focusing on continuing education or expansion to family members of law enforcement.
At least one cohort of at least 15 participants to receive 18 academic credits towards substance use disorder education.
The establishment of an officer wellness library to serve as a resource center for members of law enforcement in Ocean County.

Members of law enforcement throughout Ocean County and the State of New Jersey as well as their family members are the intended beneficiaries of the proposed project.  Sub recipient activities include, but are not limited to: vocational skills training, substance use disorder training, job preparation, career exploration and planning, skill-building services, assessments and resiliency training.
