DLIVE Violence Intervention

Detroit Life Is Valuable Everyday (DLIVE)/Metro Solutions, Inc. proposes to implement the DLIVE Violence Intervention project. The purpose is to implement a health-rooted Community Violence Intervention health and wellness hub designed to work with youth/young adults who have sustained community violence trauma injury in Detroit, Michigan. Project activities will include an interdisciplinary approach to execute strategies that directly meet the needs and advance the health of DLIVE participants - there will be a dynamic focus on therapeutic engagement, mental health, critical social determinant of health (SDOH) domains, and health education learning and healing spaces. Expected outcomes include the strengthening of a multi-disciplinary team and its data-informed service delivery, improved mental health access and outcomes for DLIVE participants, improvement in SDOH indices of DLIVE participants and their families, and prevention of future injury and death. DLIVE strives to impact those with the most need - on average, this includes those with significant historical trauma, previous Community Violence injury, underemployment or unemployment, partial completion of K-12 education, and history of incarceration. Given epidemiological trends, DLIVE is designed to work with individuals ages 14-30. While DLIVE serves young adults who identify with all genders, the majority are male with an average age in the early 20s. The additional intended beneficiaries of DLIVE’s service are the families of DLIVE’s participants. Given the wide-reaching effects of Community Violence, DLIVE’s innovative and comprehensive approach to this public health crisis results in significant benefit to Detroit at-large.
