Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $209,746)
The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR) will implement a comprehensive continuum of care by maintaining additional substance use disorder treatment aftercare services and expanding to additional rural areas in North Dakota. Additional funding will assist in continued access to substance use disorder aftercare programming to people who are transitioning from prison to the rural areas of Dickinson and Minot and allow for additional rural areas to receive these services. Sustaining and growing substance use disorder and/ or co-occurring substance use and mental health treatment aftercare services ensures a smoother transition to the community. To that end, ND DOCR would like to continue to implement community-based aftercare in Dickinson and Minot North Dakota as well as implement these services in additional rural areas. The goal of this request is to continue and expand access to aftercare services that are a natural extension of the programming provided in prison settings to build upon and sustain treatment outcomes that will significantly reduce relapse, recidivism and reincarceration.
