Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $38,787)
The Llano County Sheriff's Office proposes to update their BWC program and revise their policy
using funds from the Body-worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program. The purpose is to
replace BWCs that are outdated and no longer under warranty in Llano County. Project activities
include replacement of the BWC systems and server. Expected outcomes include a fully operational, up-to-date system that meets the needs of the county by maintaining records to protect the citizens and officers alike used by department personnel that are subject matter experts in both hardware and software. Additionally, the BWC policy will be reviewed and revised as needed. Video recorded by body cameras helps protect police officers and citizens against false accusations, claims of misconduct, and abuse. BWCs increase transparency and accountability of officers and may help prevent and deescalate confrontational situations between officers and civilians. The residents and officers of Llano County are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
