Village of Spring Valley - Body Worn Camera Initiative

The Village of Spring Valley Police Department (SVPD) is requesting funding to develop its BWC
pilot program. This program will outfit 30 sworn personnel with BWCs, as well as address storage and
maintenance costs for the cameras themselves. These 30 officers will patrol the community equipped
with the latest technology, with the objective of bringing fair, meaningful, and measurable policing
outcomes to the Village of Spring Valley. This project will help increase the trust between the SVPD
and the communities they serve, as well as provide juries, prosecutors, and the public with
corroborating evidence related to local crime. The implementation of this pilot program will bring the
Village of Spring Valley into the 21st century when it comes to policing technology and practices,
which will serve to benefit its officers, their communities, and the Spring Valley courts in the process.
