As the FY 2023 JAG Program is designed to provide units of local government with additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice and civil proceedings, Little Rock during a public meeting held in July of 2023, identified the following priorities: 1. Foster public trust and enhance public safety and security by increasing engagement with community members and building partnerships with community organizations to develop a shared vision and approach to addressing crime and support CVI work in communities most impacted by violent crime. 2. Implement CVI strategies typically focus on high-risk individuals and gang and gun violence as well as the historical and structural challenges that often contribute to community violence. 3. Support technological or personnel upgrades to provide more equitable access to justice, including language access resources. 4. Invest in technology to support and enable the use of data and analytics. 5. Implement programs that provide training, assistance, and resources to law enforcement agencies to mitigate the current crisis in law enforcement recruitment and retention. 6. Enhanced community policing and crime prevention by and upgrading systems and/or purchase technology that support agency strategies to reduce violent crime and enhance their capacity to better address crime.
