Lakewood Police Department and Jefferson County Public Safety desire to provide law enforcement personnel with training, to purchase essential law enforcement equipment, and provide funding for LifeTrak.
Lakewood Police Department will provide opportunities for personnel to attend professional development training that will equip newly promoted management, personnel assigned to specialized assignments, and those in positions requiring specialized training to perform their jobs. This is critical to maintain the highest level of law enforcement service, professionalism, and efficiency. Well trained law enforcement staff will result in minimizing low frequency high liability occurrences. Provide professional development training will support our agency’s effort through maintaining our accreditation status, providing required training critical for performing managerial, specialized, and support tasks. Less lethal systems purchase for patrol vehicles will provide law enforcement with additional options to use less lethal devices and de-escalation techniques on calls for service. Purchase ballistic helmets for SWAT, K9 and others needed to safely respond to critical incidents. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (subrecipient) will provide part-time salary and benefits for the LifeTrak Coordinator and purchase needed supplies that support the ankle bracelet tracking equipment to ensure safety of adults who wonder from their homes.
