City of Fort Myers - Fort Myers Police Department - BJA Local Grant Initiative

The mission of the Fort Myers Police Department is to provide the most effective and efficient law enforcement services in Florida. Our purpose is to provide exceptional public safety and service thought quality partnerships. Our values are Honor, Ethics, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork. The Fort Myers Police Department strategy will consist of an array of moves and approaches those leaders employ to produce successful performance. The strategy, in effect, is the game plan for strengthening the Police Department, meeting community needs, and achieving performance targets.

The Fort Myers Police Department currently has 227 sworn officers. As of August 2023, our agency is in budget season, and we are having budgetary restraints where funds are limited with purchasing additional equipment for our department. With the needed for funding, our agency would be using these funds for our Crime Scene Division, where we have had in increase in violent crime within the last year. With this funding we would like to purchase the below items:

Bosch CDR: Pro-Premium Tool Kit, OSCR360 High Resolution Capture Kit, USB SanDisk 3.0 Flash Drives, OSCR360 Desktop Presentation Pkage-license, Nikon D5600 DSLR Camera

The City of Fort Myers will use JAG funds for the purchase of crime scene equipment to help us solve increasing crimes, solve murders, domestic violence incidents, and unforeseen incidents that take place and plague our city. Our agency wants to continue to be number three Safest City for a city of our size.
