BJA FY 23 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program - Local Solicitation

The city of Miami Beach will use the JAG funds to purchase three handheld narcotics identification devices specifically designed for law enforcement non-contact forensic analysis of narcotics, pharmaceutical drugs, cutting agents and precursors. These devices will enable officers to test and identify seized narcotics right away, thus allowing them to charge the suspects appropriately. These devices will also ensure that officers can do so without exposing themselves to dangerous and potential life-threatening narcotics. These devices then will help combat the use of and death related to the prescription and non-description opium drugs epidemic.
