Life Saving Water Rescue Equipment and Medical Equipment

The Pekin Police Department will purchase life-saving water rescue equipment along with various other medical equipment. The City of Pekin is bordered by the Illinois River and approximately 15 lakes and ponds. The department nearly suffered a severe loss of three officers as they heroically saved a young boy from drowning in a frozen lake. The department quickly learned our officers are not trained nor equipped with the right equipment to make water rescues.
