Livingston Parish Gun Violence Reduction

The goals of the Livingston Parish Gun Violence Reduction Initiative are to provide overtime pay to gun violence investigators, use technology to provide officer safety and obtain evidence for illegal gun related prosecutions, prevent gun violence crimes, and to target violent criminal offenders. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue to use two specific approaches to complete the goals of this program. First, the LPSO will utilize Operation Gun Stop- a program designed to allow citizens to anonymously report illegal gun activity. Second, the LPSO will use the very successful Firearms Investigative Unit (FIU) - a program designed to conduct undercover purchases of illegal guns and arrest those responsible.
