Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $63,706)
The disparate jurisdictions of Lewiston and Auburn will use JAG funds for technology improvements, equipment, training, and community policing. The City of Lewiston will use JAG funds for taser replacement and/or batteries and cartridges to keep tasers up-to-date and have the batteries and cartridges as needed. The city will use some funds to train newly promoted sergeants and detectives to provide the training needed to be successful in their new assignment. The city will use some funds for supplies to include computer software and hardware (MDT mounts, keyboards, monitors, and printers) to keep technology current and air cards and tactical medical supplies and Williams keys to be kept in a supervisor vehicle for an active shooter situation. They will use funds to enhance community policing efforts through COP cards, department photo, department coins and junior police badges, and stickers to hand out to children at community events. The City of Auburn will use funds for two narcotics sensors and partially fund new police badges for all officers.
