The City of Portland, Maine will utilize JAG funds to purchase technology. Specifically, the Portland Police Department will purchase computers, mobile data terminals and mobile video recorders. The computers and mobile data terminals will ensure that civilian and sworn staff are equipped with the technology necessary to do their jobs in an efficient manner while the mobile video cameras will promote trust, accountability and transparency.
The County of Cumberland, Maine will utilize JAG funds to continue outfitting corrections officers with gas masks. The gas masks will be used to protect jail employees in the event of the deployment of non-lethal chemical agents.
