Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $86,318)
Warren Police Department will use their JAG funds to purchase of two K-9’s, training, and equipment to support their department through public relations, investigations, assisting officers with locating and recovery of narcotics, firearms, explosives, suspects, and building clearing along with the use of law enforcement tools/resources to include many other applications of law enforcement nature. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office will use their JAG funds to purchase eight life rings and eight water rescue throw ropes to be carried in patrol cars and rescue boats for water rescues, which provide a tool for deputies to use and decreases the likelihood of a deputy having to enter the water, in those type of incidents. The county will also purchase eight semi-auto AEDs for advance lifesaving aid for the use in aiding sheriff personnel and the public. Macomb County Corrections will use JAG funds to support activities of the Department of Community Corrections on their annual training with the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies. The training will provide evidence-based strategies for pretrial risk/needs assessment and community supervision for the pretrial services and diversion program staff members.
