Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff's office - 2023 JAG Grant

The City of Asheville, Asheville Police Department (APD) and the sub recipient, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), both request grant funds to purchase AED equipment packages for sworn personnel. Funds awarded will ensure that sworn personnel are better prepared to provide life-saving CPR for injured or health-compromised individuals in all manner of emergency settings. Shortages for Law Enforcement and EMS staff are now recognized both in centralized communities and in fact countywide where first responders, working all times of day and night, are called upon to react to such emergencies. This is often before other providers can arrive to the more remote communities and areas of Buncombe's 650+ square miles. These shortages have created the need for more cross-training between agency units so that each is fully equipped to support those in need when first arriving on scene.
