CMPD's FY2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Program

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office propose to use funds to retain Cadets in the Police Cadet Program to enhance their knowledge of CMPD operations, provide summer interns the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a sworn officer, provide overtime for the Lab to process evidence backlogs and work priority cases, provide overtime for Patrol to aid in reducing crime, purchase Bola Devices to expand responses to combative detention center residents, purchase Weapon Storage for enhanced security, and purchase patrol vehicles to establish a new Accident and Traffic Unit.
