CMPD's FY2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Program

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office proposes to use funds to retain Cadets in the Police Cadet Program to enhance their knowledge of CMPD operations, provide summer interns the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a sworn officer, provide overtime for the Lab to process evidence backlogs and work priority cases, provide overtime for Patrol to aid in reducing crime, purchase two marked patrol SUV vehicles and accessories to create a new Accident and Traffic Unit, and develop and implement a recruitment and advertising campaign to highlight available Detention Officer and Deputy Sheriff employment opportunities and the benefits that come along with them.
