UTV for Patrols and Investigations

Procurement of a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) to be used for routine and specialized patrols/investigations in areas that are not accessible by a traditional motor vehicle.  If the grant is awarded, the money would be applied toward the purchase of a UTV and be assessable for use by the North Platte Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s office.  The city and county would share the responsibility and costs involved with routine maintenance and repair.  The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department will make a trailer available for both agencies to transport the UTV to the area where it’s needed.  The State of Nebraska does not require the registration of UTV’s and they are considered an off-road vehicle.  They are allowed on state roadways under limited circumstances and will be operated as an off-road vehicle by both agencies, with no modifications.
