Equipment for the safety of the officer for any active shooter/threat situation.

The Laconia Police Department will utilize 2023 Jag funds for the following: the purchase of forty (40) Ballistic Helmets which are issued equipment for each of our officers assigned to general patrol duties when dealing with potentially violent criminals, drug dealers, and instances of terrorism.  We have 42 officers, and 6 sergeants who routinely conduct general patrol duties.  There are varying levels of proficiency with safety equipment which will even the field and result in leaser injuries and/or life lost in the variety of lethal and less lethal situations that may arise.  Upon receipt of the detailed equipment, the police department will be able to train and certify each front-line supervisor and officer with the safety equipment thus enhancing our ability to respond to potentially lethal encounters with appropriate safety equipment, including officers called in on an emergency recall for small and/or large-scale incidents.
