Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $252,406)
The cities of Bayonne, Hoboken, Jersey City, Union City, the Township of North Bergen, and the Town of West New York will use the JAG funds to implement projects that encompass the purpose area of law enforcement and technology programs. One municipality is utilizing their funding for continued quality of life overtime patrols in high crime target areas. Other municipalities are using this year’s funding to replace outdated and obsolete portable radios, purchase an automated license plate recognition system, body-worn cameras, and ballistic shields as part of their enhanced patrol officer program to help protect officers, citizens, and school children. Two municipalities are purchasing desktop computers to increase officer reporting efficiency to facilitate the exchange of information with other agencies. Hudson County, through the prosecutor’s office, will serve as the fiscal agent for the award and will not receive funding.
