JAG BYRNE Funding for Police Overtime / Presence in City Parks for safety and community outreach

The Binghamton Police Department will use the JAG funds to help reduce crime and increase safety in the city parks. The city will use a collaborative approach to data driven, focused crime reduction. The purpose is multi-faceted allowing for additional uniform patrols throughout the parks with overtime funds from the grant opportunity. The city will be able to put more officers into the community to interact and engage with community stakeholders. This opportunity allows for a stronger relationship between law enforcement and the public as well as providing a reduction in violent crime throughout and surrounding the parks.
