Canton City and Stark County 2023 JAG Project

The City of Canton Police Department will use JAG funds for the purchase of Getac generation seven MDTs to update their existing outdated MDTs that are currently in service. With this purchase, they will be able to replace 15 generation 1 and 2 MDTs and an additional 3 of the generation 3 MDTs. Upgrading these early generation models of MDTs will allow for more timely and efficient reporting by our officers.

The Stark County Sheriff's Office will use JAG funds for the purchase of a handheld chemical detection instrument, supplies, and training for law enforcement safety. This device will provide safer and more reliable field testing of illicit drugs for drug-related crime and overdose death investigations, offer medical intervention support, present public and officer safety, as well as bring support in the prosecution of overdose related crimes.
