Akron Police Department and Summit Count Sheriff's Office Priority Funding

The Akron Police Department aims to allocate JAG funds to enhance its operational capabilities to bolster the effectiveness of critical units. The Patrol Unit and Anti-Violence Bureau will utilize these funds to procure 200-duty weapons and acquire additional support supplies. This strategic investment aligns with the department's commitment to advancing public safety initiatives and equipping its personnel with the tools necessary to address pivotal law enforcement challenges efficiently. The acquisition of firearms and other resources allowable under the law will significantly contribute to the department's ability to respond to incidents, combat narcotics-related activities, and reduce gun violence within the community. The Summit County Sheriff's Office will utilize funding for updating their NextGen 911 notification and to provide for training.
