City of West Columbia JAG- Radio and BWC Project

The City of West Columbia will use the JAG funds to purchase radio accessories and additional batteries. The City of West Columbia will also use the funds to buy extra body-worn cameras (BWCs), a docking station, and other required accessories. Using these radios to communicate with other local agencies will also increase police response time when crime occurs across boundary lines. The BWCs will record all interactions between officers and the public, which will help to build trust and confidence in the police department. The BWCs can deter misconduct and provide evidence in an officer-involved shooting or other incident. The BWC footage can be used to solve crimes and exonerate innocent people.
