City of Sumter Police Technology Grant Submission to assist with funding the replacement of antiquated computers in our marked patrol units.

The Sumter Police Department proposes that it will use this funding to replace the antiquated computers in some of the marked patrol vehicles.  These computers are an important tool for uniformed patrol officers.  Officers utilize these computers to complete field based reporting  such as incident reports, traffic collision reports and electronic ticketing.  This information is transmitted remotely without having the officer leave their patrol area to file their reports at the department.  This allows officers to remain proactive with enforcement activities in their patrol areas and increases availability to respond to calls for service.
