Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $154,782)
his grant proposal includes proposed funding for the City of Knoxville’s Police Department (KPD) of $109,536 and Knox County Sherriff’s Office (KCSO) of $45,246, totaling a joint proposal of $154,782. This proposal is consistent with the purpose of the JAG program in countering the violent crime and threat of violent crime that has seriously eroded the quality of life for all citizens.
The proposal addresses equipment, supplies, training, and information systems for criminal justice that address the following JAG Program areas, such as “law enforcement programs; drug treatment and enforcement programs; and planning evaluating, and technology improvements.” Specifically, the proposal includes specialized training that includes investigations training, crimes against persons, property crimes, and organized crime. Equipment includes a LiveScan fingerprinting system and Flock Cameras. Supplies include AED replacement pads and batteries, and Residue detection THC drug test kits. KPD proposes a procurement contract for expansion of its Records Management System (RMS).
