The Weslaco Police Department will purchase humane remote restraint devices that will enable its officers to restrain an uncooperative subject without inflicting pain. The Department will purchase BolaWrap technology, this innovative, remote restraint, non-lethal technology deploys a Kevlar tether to safely restrain individuals from a distance, significantly mitigating the risk of injury to both officers and subjects during confrontations. Additionally, the Department will purchase VFIX Safety Leg Restraints, this device allows an officer to safely immobilize the detainees’ legs and get them to a safe seated versus a prone position.
