The Hopewell Police Department will use the JAG funds to purchase Cellebrite, a locked phone, data extraction software. Often, the investigative leads and information needed to solve crimes is embedded in a cell phone. This information can help detectives identify motives, offenders, victims, others involved, weapons, vehicle, and other property that is involved with a crime. Current Android and iPhone cell phone technology prevents easy access to a phone's information, especially when the phone has a lock code. Cellebrite software has the ability to identify the cell phone's lock code and bypass the cell phones' internal security measures.
