Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $46,119)
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) proposes to expand and update their Mobile Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) devices. The expansion of the ALPRs will enhance the ability to utilize data from other agencies and commercial sources to help solve crime, develop leads, and locate missing persons, wanted persons, and stolen vehicles. This expansion will provide the LCSO with additional investigative capabilities that are otherwise outside of the agency’s annual operating budget. The project will be used to collect, analyze, and share ALPR reads within the law enforcement community. As crime trends are on the rise nationwide, the impact to the community can be felt in each locality. Expanding and updating the ALPRs in Loudoun County with the newest technology will allow us to better service the community through crime prevention. The Loudoun community and surrounding law enforcement partners are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
