Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $13,720)

Port Angeles Police Department (PAPD) and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) are jointly deploying body a robust worn camera (BWC) program. Both agencies have selected the same product and can thus share program development, hardware and some software.

BWC are a best practice in law enforcement. They increase accountability, transparency, public trust, and quality of the service provided to the public. Our particular BWC programs will connect to our CAD and thus improve officer safety and dispatch situational awareness. Both agencies are committed to using BWC programs to using the programs to advance social reform efforts and effective criminal justice practices to enhance public trust; promote racial equity and support for underserved communities ensuring equal access to justice; prevent and combat hate and bias-motivated crimes; improve reporting of incidents; and coordinate with state attorneys and community stakeholders to aid crime violence reduction programs.
