The Bellingham Police Department is looking to rebuild the Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) with the creation of a bicycle response team as a multi-use unit within CDU. The City of Bellingham hosts several large events throughout the year. Ski to Sea and Northwest Tune-up are two events that bring large continents of people into our city. Having a team of mobile officers who are trained in crowd control would have a huge impact on these events by being able to respond quicker to concerning areas. CDU has a current need for equipment to include bikes, helmets, and shoes to rebuild the bicycle response team

The Bellingham Police Department would also like to purchase Power Engage which is a citizen engagement software and feedback solution for law enforcement and other first responders. It keeps citizens informed with automated updates, measures citizen satisfaction with text surveys, and provides actual data with real time scores. Whatcom County Sheriff's Office would like to purchase ballistic helmets, plates, and illumination devices to improve officer safety.
