Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $385,000)

The Lorain County Prosecutors Office proposes to implement the Specialized Staffing to Increase Data Analysis & Data Use to Reduce Prosecutor Caseloads project. Project activities include hiring specialized staff and increasing the collection, use, and analysis of data. Expected outcomes include the development of a Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting Implementation Plan and Strategy; the use of data analysis to reduce prosecutor caseloads and enhance public safety; and hiring specialized staff to utilize data-driven approaches to develop office policies that drive case efficiencies and reduce caseloads. This project will also include an office assessment and feedback plan through bi-annual staff surveys about the value and effectiveness of the data-driven approaches. The intended beneficiaries of this program are the Lorain County Prosecutors Office staff, victims and defendants involved in the Lorain County Common Pleas Court criminal cases, and citizens of Lorain County.
